My eagle. And a flag.
Hey everyone - I’m back on-line. I’ve been a bit busy with this and that, hopefully back to a regular posting of my art. So here we go - may I present my eagle and a flag. It is rather patriotic, if I say so myself.
It was inspired by my drifting mind - I found myself in Sharpsburg, MD, which reminded of the Boston Tea Party, which naturally brought to mind the Revolutionary War, which had me reflecting on the the Constitutional Convention… and then landed my contemplation with a quote that has always followed me -
“A republic, if you can keep it.”
--Benjamin Franklin's response to Elizabeth Willing Powel's question: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"
I’m hoping you’ll check out the full Day by Day Account for September 1787 where Mr. Franklin uttered these words during the Constitutional Convention of 1787. Exciting stuff, isn’t it?
Happy Fourth of July! As always - thanks for reading and checking out my stuff. If you’re interested in any art or cards, www.happypigstudio.com.
Peace, love, and light.
