Stellar’s Jay
“I would like to paint the way a bird sings.”
I give you this week’s study - Stellar’s Jay.
My brother Steve had mentioned this particular bird and how it was a staple in the Eastern Rockies range of the United States. I was impressed with it’s stature, striking colors and impressive size. Its stunning colors inspired my work; nature never fascinates me with its mastery of color.
Back to the quote - not unlike Monet, I am inspired by birds, from their songs to the complexity of their structure and flight patterns. As I created this study, I was lost in thought, romanticizing a Stellar’s Jay tune, imagining it could lull one to sleep. Spoiler alert - maybe not? I won’t give it all away, but I recommend you check out the song and more fun Stellar’s Jay facts at Audubon Organization.
Thanks for stopping by on this beautiful day; hope the rest of your week is fantastic. Sending good vibes your way.
Peace, love, and light.
Kay
